Practical Experience & Summary for Micro-Silica Fume Concrete Construction
Micro-silica fume (silica fume) features huge specific surface area, which has been widely researched in Europe and America since 1970s. It can greatly reduce concrete porosity and improve strength, permeability resistance, abrasion resistance and durability. In-site construction requires low water-binder ratio together with high-efficiency water reducer. It can be compounded with fly ash and slag with proper dosage. Sufficient mixing and at least 7-day wet-curing are required to avoid plastic shrinkage cracks. All project participants shall communicate technical specifications, and final mix proportion shall be confirmed by field test to maximize material performance.
