Silica Fume Application Cases

Real-world Sampson® silica fume applications across infrastructure, refractory systems and high-performance concrete.

Our Cases

Case 01

Zhan-Lin Yellow River Super Bridge

Silica fume adopted in UHPC precast bridge deck. With high-activity filling effect, it realizes ultra-high strength & high durability for this 4,630-meter large-scale bridge project.

Case 03

Refractory Castable Supporting Project

As a core raw material for unshaped refractory castables, silica fume optimizes density and anti-corrosion performance in high-temperature industrial furnace projects.

Marine-Engineering Concrete

Coastal durability

Marine-Engineering Concrete

Marine-engineering concrete serves in coastal and seawater-erosion environments, with chloride ion permeability as the key index. Adding Sampson® silica fume greatly reduces chloride penetration rate and improves anti-corrosion performance for long-term durability of marine structures.

Monolithic Refractory Castables

High-temperature performance

Monolithic Refractory Castables

Silica fume features ultra-fine particle size and high pozzolanic activity. It fills internal voids to reduce porosity and boost bulk density & abrasion resistance. It optimizes castable workability. At high temperature, it reacts to form mullite phase to counteract shrinkage, strengthen and toughen matrix, and extend service life for low-cement castables and other monolithic refractories.

Multi-Scene High-Performance Concrete

Structural strength

Multi-Scene High-Performance Concrete

Silica fume is widely adopted in special concrete: high-strength concrete for high-rise building load-bearing components; RPC for high-speed-rail precast parts with compressive strength up to 120MPa; abrasion-resistant concrete for hydropower tunnels & stilling basins; shotcrete with lower rebound rate, better compactness, adhesion and durability.
